Project #1: Gupta, Shilpa(2012) – Look Straight, Don’t See
Results: I found this project similar to instances of when I day dream. I encountered the same feeling which feels similar to the brain pausing and time freezing.
Project #2: Grigely, Joseph(2002) – Watch TV with the sound turned off for one hour.
Results: I felt like for a while I was similarly able to relate to someone who experiences deafness. Considering I can normally hear and know what words sound like, it might have been a bit easier for me, but it was still a challenge trying to completely understand what was going on in the show.
Project #3: Lamelas, David(2012) – CLEAR YOUR MIND OF ALL THOUGHTS and say MOON making a perfect circle with your lips, and hold
Results: I tried to clear my head and thoughts at the beginning of the exercise, but all I could think about after saying moon and making a perfect circle was cows(jumping over the moon).
Project #4: Potrc, Marjetica(1997) – Instruction: How to blow away a wall: It is easy. Close your eyes, concentrate, and blow.
Results: After closing my eyes and blowing at the air in front of me, I felt a sense of power/strength, like I could push aside anything that was in my way.
Project #5: PHAN, Thao Nguyen(2019) – Dig a Hole, Plant a Seed
Make a seed ball
dig a hole, plant a seed
waiting for what happens
Results: I planted a seed and waited for it to grow. I felt like an eternity, but mentally you know that with time will come a great outcome.
Project #6: BAGHRAMIAN, Nairy (2012) – Following Gertrude Stein, every now and then sit with your back on nature.
Results: I first understood this as “turn your back to nature”, but I then understood it as sitting with your back against a tree which is what I did. I really focused on and felt the rough texture of the bark rubbing against and fitting to the composure of my spine.
